Requesting Help for Cancer Patient - Tue Jul 31, 2007

Hi All,
 
I am writing this mail for a family that I know of in Kochi. The lady's name is Daisy and her mother is suffering from uterine cancer. 

Daisy's family consists of her 3 small children and husband. Her husband is a plumber by profession, but is now out of his job. Her ailing mother is also staying with them now in their 1 bedroom house. Daisy also has 3 brothers who help her the least in running the household. To add to her miseries, they are all drunkards and all three have forced themselves into her house and are now living with them. Each time they are asked to move out, they create an enormous amount of tension and trouble in the family. Not a very conducive environment for a sick person to be in!!!!  
Daisy works as a beautician(not in a regular parlor, but she goes around to houses offering her services) and is the only earning member in this huge family. She is barely able to make ends meet (with 9 mouths to feed) and now she has to shoulder the additional responsibility of treating her mother.
 
By closing the chitty funds she was saving up for her kids,Daisy managed the first phase of the treatment which was an operation done at Lissy Hospital at a cost of Rs.16000 by Dr. Rosa kutty. Subsequent to the operation, they were advised to go in for radiation and other follow up treatments. Unfortunately their financial condition is very bad that they cannot afford the post-operative treatment and have therefore stopped all treatments.

Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences have offered the family treatment at subsidized rates and have given them an estimate of about Rs. 53000 for the same.But still Daisy is not in a state to handle the treatment expenses.  As you all can guess, the poor lady is really suffering from a lot of pain and would benefit a great deal with treatment.
 
It would be great if we as a community could lend a helping hand to this needy family.
