2011 Update

2011 has been a hectic and challenging year for XSA. We have gone social, increased the number of scholarships and helped more people than last year.

Last year we gave scholarships to additional 5 students, thus taking the total number to 11 scholarships in the current year. With scholarships in 2012, we would reach the full spectrum of sponsoring students from the 2nd to the 4th year. The total amount paid out in 2011 is Rs 2,20,000/-

XSA has also gone social with a page on facebook (http://www.facebook.com/XMECSocialAssist) and a blog page (http://xmecsocialassist.blogspot.com)

We have been able to support five people in their time of need apart from the scholarship. They are:
-          Shyamdas, a student of standard 9 at Model Technical Higher Secondary School met with a serious accident on the playing ground. He was in a critical state and operated on at the Ernakulam Medical Centre. We have been to collect and donate Rs 1,50,000/- for his operation and treatment
-          Ashish G. Nair, +2 student of Bharathiya Vidhya Bhavan Thrissur was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (blood cancer). We collected Rs 25,000/- for him. His health is getting better. The medication is to continue for another 2 years.
-          Shiji, a young girl from a poor background needed money to build her house and her marriage. We were able to collect Rs 40,000/- for her.
-          Lenin C B, suffering from single vessel coronary artery disease and was treated at Lissie Heart Institute, Cochin. We were able to donate Rs 25,000/- for him
-          Cochlea Transplantation for a 10 month old baby who was born deaf. We were able to collect Rs 20,000/-

We have been getting more and more help requests. We are sure that with the help of XMECians we would be able to help out more people during this year. Thanks for the support of all XMECians. Once again calling for volunteers to help out XSA!!!
