XSA plans for 2013-14

As most of you know, with your help XSA has been helping the needy for years now. As and when the case arrives, we have approached the XMEC community which has always supported the cause with generous contributions. We would like to keep it going this way, at the same time make it more efficient and reach out to more people as needed. To do this, we are bringing in some changes to the way XSA has been working.

During the next financial year, XSA plans to focus on the following activities and have set the below budget -

1) Social Assist: Rs 6 Lac; targeting 12 cases for the year
2) Scholarship: Rs 3 Lac for 15 students
3) Punarjana (the juvenile home program): Rs 1 Lac for books, bags, etc and a tutor for the home

Starting with this year with respect to social assist, our goal is to handle at least 12 cases. As per our past records, the amount required to handle this many will be around 6 lacs minimum. When the cases arrive, we will immediately transfer 25,000/- to the concerned and raise the fund via XMEC and transfer the rest once we reach the target. Since we are planning to handle more cases, we will be capping the amount to 50,000/- per case, unless it calls for a special consideration. This will be decided by the XSA committee. Monthly updates will be sent out to XMEC.

This is a huge task and we need each one of your help to achieve this. Since we are planning to transfer an immediate amount of 25k as the cases reach XSA, we will be keeping the account open throughout the year. All funds received will be maintained in the reserve pool. Please put a mail to the new XSA treasurer Nitin Chittilappilly chittsnitin@gmail.com, once you transfer.

Update about Rajesh Lal

Dear All,

I am writing this email to share how XSA support has helped to change the life of a friend of mine.
I hope you remember about my request to support Rajesh Lal (who was my college mate at SB college) few years back. He was blind from childhood and it become a real fight for survival when he was diagnosed with kidney failure.

With the help of XSA and like minded friends, he was able to secure the financial support for his kidney transplantation. After recovery, he had completed his M.Phil studies and with our support he also attended a computer training for blind.

On his effort to be back on his feet, now he is working as a member of the personal staff of Joy Abraham MP and is also working as a part time LIC agent. He has made it into the Psc rank list and waiting for appointment as a +2 teacher after the interview.  Finally, he is getting married to Reshma next month and lets wish it will bring a lot of support, happiness and comfort to his life.

I use this opportunity to thank you all on behalf of Rajesh and his family for your generous support.

Moreover, I hope that knowing your contributions are making significant changes in others life will be an encouragement  to do more.

Regards
Raigon Ignatius
