Help Rajesh to save his life - Tue Mar 6, 2007

Hello friends,

I am writing this mail for one of my friends who needs
our help badly. His name is Rajesh, he was my batch-mate and hostel-mate during
my Pre Degree
days at SB College Changanacherry. He became blind
when he was studying in 5 th standard. But he didn't give up there. He learned
Braille and continued his studies..

He completed Pre-degree
from SB college and after that he completed his degree and post graduation from
St.Thomas Palai.

B.Ed from MG University
centre (secured first class consistently) and he was doing MPhill at MG
University.

But he couldn't complete
his success story, Now he is admitted in Kottayam medical college, fighting for
his life.

He was blind even before and was having problem with
his hands . On top of
this, he is now suffering from
"Nail Patella Syndrome". The disease was diagonised at Amrita in June 06 .As a
result both his kidneys stopped
functioninig and he is on dialysis from then onwards. He is undergoing 3
dialysis per week. Till now he has completed 80+ dialysis.. Since both the
kidneys are not functional, he was
planning for a transplantation (his mother was the proposed donor). By that time
he developed swelling on both his knees, and diagonised that his knees are
affected by TB, and is under treatment for that from August 06.

He is currently staying at a rented house near Kottayam
medical college hopspital where he takes the treatment. Since this is a
complicated case, Dr. Vimala (Head of
Nephrology, Kottayam Medical college) has refered him to Amrutha Hospital,
Cochin ) for transplantation. He is now
undergoing treatment for TB and doing dialysis regularly. Once the TB subsides,
he can think of kidney transplantation.

I have attached a
scanned article about Rajesh which came in Malayala Manorama.

The AsiaNet program "Kannady" also showed Rajesh's
case.

He is from Bharananganam
near palai (son of Gopalakrishnan and Valsala ).

He needs almost 4 .5 lakhs (he could
manage around 3 lakhs so far from contributions) for his Kidney
transplantation besides his daily medicine and dialysis charges( 10000 / month
).

I know that Rs 1. 5 lakh is a huge sum, and we cannot afford to pool
in that much amount. But it will be great if we contribute to the extend of our
limits to save this friend of mine, and more than that a very capable and bright
young chap. The doctor's calculation is
that he might be able to get admitted for transplantation by 20th of this
month.

As of now Amrutha hospital has not offered any reduction in the
medical expense. If some of the XMECian who has some contact there can refer
this case there that will aslo be a great help for
him.

I have been in touch with XMEC Social Assist (XSA) for
this initiative and one of the core members of XSA only collected these details
from Rajesh. He will be mostly visiting Rajesh and we will update if any other
information is available. It will be a great help for Rajesh and his family if
we can pool in some money for this purpose and help him out through XSA .

Thanks and regards and expecting a positive response
from all of you,

Raigon (BE-98 - 02)
