A brief update on the activities of XSA - Fri Sep 14, 2007

Hello all

Here is an update on the activities that took place in the XSA after the XMEC meet.

Ø      XSA will be having dependent wings for different initiatives. To start with, we will have two wings:

Þ    Social support wing which takes care of issues affecting human life such as health care, environment, socio-economic aspects and women's issues

Þ    Educational support wing which takes care of educational support to students of Model Engineering College and outside

Ø      We have started the activities for registering XSA as a charitable society. Hopefully within a month or two, we will be able to register it as a society. We are currently in the process of finalizing the byelaws for the society.

Ø      On the Educational support wing, we initially plan to extend support for 5 students (To start with, we plan to support 5 MECians). The selection of students will be done based on the inputs from faculties.

Since the registration of the society and opening of the account might take some time, for the initial contribution drive for Education suport, we plan to use the existing account of XSA (which we use for fund collection of XSA, and is in the name of Ashley Jose ~ CS 98-02)
